My parents, George and Jenny, met in 1948 in the U.S. Air Force when they were both just 18 years old. After my father returned from Korea in 1954, they married and adjusted happily to civilian life. Although they had planned on having a family, they enjoyed an active social life for six full years before finally settling down and starting a family.

“OANA”
“OANA” – A Romanian female name meaning “Hand of God” or “God is Gracious”. My paternal grandparents, George and Mary, emigrated to the United States from Timişoara, Romania in 1917. Extremely proud of their heritage, they shared their love of the Romanian culture through faith, food, music and dance.
